應用外語系出來的學生英文能力竟是如此素質 這些只懂得收學生賺錢卻不對教育嚴格把關的野雞學校實在是拖垮我們國家競爭力的萬惡根源
These taiwanese english are a bloody joke. They are making a fool of themselves. To think that they actually think they can speak english better better than countries like Singapore n Korea?? They have a good command of their mother tongue but when it comes to English, they r like retards.
My 5 year old nephew can speak english better than them. I am not joking. Though I know they will refuse to accept this。井底之娃。
It defeats the very purpose if we compare english proficiency at a personal level. The rankings are based on a larger sampling group and i doubt it will especially highlight high individual scores so even if your nephew participate in the process it might not reflect on to the rankings, However, fret not as there are certain controversies to the rankings that i believe they are referring to. So it might not necessarily represent the standards of your countries accurately.
And i will have to say that Singapore really stands out as one of the better english proficiency country due to the usage of english as the first language and because as a requirement in schools and major institutions. Furthermore, i believe they are a multi-racial society and the need to use english as a common language to communicate across different races really leaves them with no choice to speak more in english. But that really makes their mother tongue much more poor than it should have been.
In Asia, Singapore/HongKong>Philippines>Malaysia>India>rest of Asia in the ranking of best english speaking countries. Taiwan is not even close.

我在机場內商店工作常常可接觸不同国藉遊客但也不能確定新加坡人是否只會”可能講几句英文”?但我可以確定的是他們很喜欢吃chewinggum.因為常看到他們一下机馬上都在叫着要買chewinggum吃.
新加坡沒有chewing gum,在這裡那是”違禁品” =)

还好我们新加坡人又笨、头脑又僵化，才不会聪明地在国会上演铁公鸡，也不会机灵地生产黑心食品! 新加坡国泰民安，去年人民中位年收入五万三千新元（注意，是新元，不是台币哦!）。这个小小的岛屿没有天灾，少有人祸，小国寡民，却有海纳百川的肚量⋯只能说老天爱笨人咯，我们傻人有傻福!

我也是新加坡人，但其实沈玉琳这样说并不是完全错。 那时学校是分英校和华校，像我爸爸是读华校的，英文就真的只能讲几句。 而且如果以德士司机来讲，大部分有可能只是小学或中学毕业而已。
就你爸爸的时代在台湾大部分连abc也不懂。沈玉琳就是爱浮夸，很明显是笑果。新加波的第一语言是英文，没有一个在70‘年代之后的孩子不会讲或读英文。当然台湾也开始提倡英文，但以整体程度来讲新加波或香港还是榜首亚洲第一。
