Listen, during his most formative years (9-20 years old), Godfrey Gao grew-up in Vancouver… It’s natural your habits and instincts are the country you lived at. His English is a regional accent like Americans who grew-up in Boston or the South. On the other hand, 林志伶 and her looks and fake-talks really bother me. Had a hard time continue watching this show.
FYI. I live in Vancouver now so I’m fully aware of Canadian English accent. I’ve seen Godfrey’s interview and I have to say his English speaking is no better than international students.
because of these comments, i was curious with his accent so i youtubed it.,.. well in my opinion, his accent sounded perfectly fine. i dont think he’s faking it. im very sensitive to accents so i would say i’ve a good gauged of it and i think he’s aint faking it. but i do think he’s the kind of person who thinks as he speaks, which results in his slow reaction so u may think he sounds funny… but i do think his accents pretty abc-ish. (ps, im judging based on american accent, not canadian accent but dont see much difference between those 2 tho…)
He has Taiwanese accent. If you can’t notice that, you are definitely not sensitive to accents.
Those are regional accents, guys… Even 3rd generation Americans from Hawaii, Boston, Brooklyn etc. have their own unique regional accents. Godfrey does NOT have Taiwan accent. He has a perfect American/Canadian accent. His Mandarin on the other hand…
