  2. taiwanese always mind how to be treated of their ancestry, status by foreigner because they consider there is a vast disparity in ethic and civilization between community in taiwan and mainland.but is that honestly true?

  7. If he was American, how on earth does his “Shu-Hao” come from at wikipedia? American don’t have this “middle name” (so called romanization of Chinese names) Does that appear on his ID as well? Jeezz. Just because you were born in US doesn’t grant you an American identity. You are still treated as foreigner when it comes to military and political issue. If you were Asian American (born and raised in US) and applied for a job in Nuclear Research Center, will your race be included in consideration? Or a more straight forward question: Can this Asian American ever be the president of USA? Not even mention if he would be representing any of the parties.
Live in your dream that Asians can only be recognized as American in sports ONLY!!!!

    • Lots of children of Chinese descent have romanized Chinese names as middle names and they are in the ID, if the parents emigrated to the US and the children born and raised there definitely have an american identity, if that does not I dont know what will. You need to read more facts.

    • You are a total idiot! First of all, you obviously do not know how to write properly. Secondly, you know nothing about what being an American means. Thirdly, you have no basic knowledge of U.S. Employment laws, in particular, Equal Employment Opportunity/Title VII, non-discriminatory provisions which prohibit employers in any sector from making hiring decisions based on race, gender, age, ethnicity, etc. And finally, you are so ignorant to state that Americans should not, or do not have middle names that phonetically spells out Chinese words- that is like saying Americans of Latin decants should not have middle names like: “Maria”, “Carlos”, “Martha”, etc….

I am a Taiwanese American- born and raised in California. My parents are from Taiwan, and I grew up learning how to speak both Mandarin and Taiwanese. My middle name is also phonetically spelled to sound like the Chinese character for love (Ai). I am also a proud American, who cares about the national deficit, pays taxes, works hard, and votes at every election.

You simply should not make such an ignorant comment about J Lin not being an American.

  9. Jeremy Lin is not Taiwanese, you guys have to get this, no matter where his parents migrated from, he is born and raised in the US and he is an Asian American here, no difference if his parents are from mainland China or somewhere else. So he should be not claimed or owned by you as a mean to boost your existence and ego. Let’s support him as a sports talent of asian descent.

  13. Jeremy Lin is famous in Taiwan just because his parents migrated from Taiwan and people thought of him being half Taiwanese. As if Taiwanese really got into basketball. Imagine if he was from mainland China, will he get all these?

Few years back then when Yao Ming was playing in the NBA, did he get all these applause?

    • You said it yourself.  It’s exactly the reason why.
Yao Ming is from China and Jeremy’s parents are from Taiwan.
      Umm….  HELLO?

    • Sorry to break this to you but in many taiwanese really do make a distinctive line between mainland and taiwan. Jeremy Lin is technically a so called ABC, and people in Taiwan LOVE the title for multiple reasons. Yao Ming a becoming huge star in Taiwan? Not even close.

      • that’s exactly what I was saying. The Taiwanese don’t know basketball, they just love someone who will bring them to the attention of the world.

Just like Yao didn’t get any (almost) attention in Taiwan, he merely was someone from mainland China few years back. And you guys just admitted it.

Make my statement clearer, do you guys appreciate someone of Chinese ancestry and non-Taiwanese nationality that can play as great as Lin? I bet no. And please don’t say this will never happen. Cuz that ‘guy’ is not related to Taiwan in any way and what’s point of supporting him? It won’t make the world know me and my country better.

I wouldn’t make all this bullshit until I saw someone on the internet stressed on the fact that Lin is Taiwanese but not Chinese and spent a whole day explaining how different a Taiwanese is from a Chinese to the American.

        • If there was a basketball match against the Marxian, Lin is related to me in all way. And I recommend Lin plays with Kobe

      • lol what makes you different from those koreans that claim everything to be theirs? lin is american, period. nevertheless feel free to be proud of him.
